Anti-crime clubs in colleges

KUALA LUMPUR: Concerned with the rising crime rate against students, the Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) will help set up anti-crime clubs in private colleges and universities.

These clubs will be a hub for students to seek up-to-date information on crimes affecting students in Malaysia and on crime-prevention methods.

The foundation will work with the Malaysia Association of Private Colleges and Universities (Mapcu) to form these clubs.


MCPF vice-chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said it was important to educate students, especially those from overseas so that they would always be on guard against any crime.

"(These clubs) will look into how we can make students, especially the foreign ones aware of the situation," he said after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between MCPF and Mapcu at the UCSI University in Taman Taynton View on Thursday.

It was the second MoU between the two parties. The first was signed in 2003 for the "Crime Prevention and Rehabilitation of Offenders Programme"
